Hello! Thanks for stopping by! My name is Sharon Farrell. I am a producer and an independent filmmaker. I’ve built a career on finding compelling, character-driven stories and bringing them to life with a hands-on, resourceful approach. I’ve worn many hats—director, cinematographer, editor, producer, and grant writer— shaping projects from the ground up. Pigeon Racer is my narrative feature film screenplay - inspired by true events and my documentary, With Wings to Fly. Pigeon Racer is a longtime, labor of love project that reflects my commitment to storytelling, blending my documentary sensibility with scripted filmmaking.
My documentary films have screened as official selections at international festivals including Mill Valley, Tiburon, Fairfax, IDA, and the California Independent Film Festival. My work was honored by the Orinda Film Society, selected for IFP's Independents In Flight, awarded the Bronze Apple by the National Educational Media Network, recommended by Booklist and School Library Journal, and recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as one of 12 outstanding documentaries of the year, and screened with the Oscar winners and nominees at UCLA/Academy's Contemporary Documentary Series.
Stay up-to-date with our progress with Pigeon Racer. Production news and announcements.
